Ask the dealer to deal you one more card. You can Hit as many times as you like, as long as your hand total doesn't exceed 21.
Stop taking cards and keep your current hand value. You Stand when you're confident your hand is strong enough to beat the dealer.
Double your original bet and receive exactly one additional card. Best used when your hand totals 9, 10, or 11.
Split two cards of equal value into two separate hands, each with the same bet amount. Always split Aces and 8s.
A hand value that exceeds 21. If the player busts, the bet is lost immediately. If the dealer busts, all remaining players win automatically.
A hand containing an Ace counts it as 11. Example: Ace + 6 = Soft 17. It's called "soft" because the Ace can change its value if you take an additional card.
A hand with no Ace, or one where the Ace must be counted as 1 to avoid busting. Example: 10 + 7 = Hard 17. Hard Hand strategy differs from Soft Hand strategy.
When the player's and dealer's hand values are equal. The bet is returned in full to the player – no win and no loss in this situation.
A side bet offered when the dealer's face-up card is an Ace. Pays 2:1 if the dealer has Blackjack. Statistically not recommended for casual players.
Surrender your hand and recover half your bet. The best move when you're holding a 16 against a dealer showing a 9, 10, or Ace.
